History of UWC Maldives

The UWC National Committee in the Maldives was originally administered by local charity organization, Ali Fulhu Thuttu Foundation, which was set up by a UWC alumni in 2000. However since March 2016, the national committee has been registered and operating as a separate NGO in the Maldives, that is run solely by Maldivian UWC alumni and students.

Over the past 15 years the Ali Fulhu Thuttu Foundation and UWC Maldives have supported over 40 Maldivians to attend UWC colleges in Canada, Norway, India, USA, Bosnia, Italy, Swaziland, Hong Kong, UK, Netherlands and Costa Rica, to complete the International Baccalaureate (IB) diploma. Following their two years at UWCs, over 95% of our graduates have secured scholarships to pursue undergraduate degrees in prestigious universities in the United States of America, and elsewhere.
